Job Description

We are looking for an Engineer II specializing in Geodesy Instrumentation to join the EarthScope Consortium team. As part of this role, you will manage and implement field projects related to geophysical instruments and networks. This position involves working on site in Socorro, New Mexico, with up to 30% travel required. The Engineer II will collaborate with team members to propose and develop new technologies, ensure project documentation adheres to best practices, and actively engage with various stakeholders within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and oversee geophysical projects, including logistics, site activities, sensor operation, and data management.
  • Solve technical issues related to sensor hardware, firmware, and software with guidance as needed.
  • Assist in the design and testing of new systems and evaluate instrument design adequacy.
  • Work on station configurations, data collection strategies, and project documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, geosciences, or related fields.
  • 3 years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks for Bachelor's degree holders.
  • 1 year of field experience for Master's degree holders.
  • Familiarity with data quality analysis software is a plus.

Additional Information

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Travel may exceed 40 hours per week, particularly during field operations.
  • Valid driver's license and passport for international projects are required.
  • Physical capabilities include lifting up to 75 pounds and working in challenging environments.
