Youth Counselor

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Residential Youth Counselor to join our team at Mount Prospect Academy. As a Youth Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing guidance and care to at-risk youth in a residential setting. Your responsibilities will include mentoring students, implementing social and recreational activities, and delivering direct services to residents in accordance with their treatment plans. Through your positive influence and support, you will help shape the future of the young individuals under our care. Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, mentorship, and crisis management for students.
• Implement social/recreational activities and involve residents in programming.
• Deliver direct services including daily living skills, meal preparation, and more.
• Refine students' social skills, interpersonal skills, and coping mechanisms.
• Be a positive role model, providing emotional stability and guidance during crises.
• Facilitate residential routine with thoughtful planning and intention.
• Participate in programmatic rituals, routines, and life-relevant programming.
• Document service delivery and incidents professionally and in a timely manner.
• Manage personal stress effectively and seek professional improvement.
• Opportunities for career growth and advancement within the organization.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Associate or bachelor's degree or equivalent experience working with children.
• Valid driver's license, 21 years or older, and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Background checks and pre-employment screening required.
