Job Description

University Mechanical Contractors, Inc (UMC) is looking for a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team in Everett, WA. As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for bidding and budgeting various construction projects, including Industrial Piping, Equipment, Structural, Civil works, and HVAC/Air Systems. You will coordinate activities from receipt of plans to bid submission, ensuring accurate and competitive estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Take in Plan/Drawings sets and organize them efficiently.
  • Perform take-offs for labor, materials, and equipment based on scopes of work.
  • Understand and apply Union Trade agreements and IG Trade Rate sheets.
  • Participate in bid activities, including obtaining quotes and pricing information.
  • Prepare estimates from preliminary to fully designed bid documents.
  • Collaborate with internal teams for proposal and project requirements.
  • Maintain updated pricing and labor information in the estimating program.
  • Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors.

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge of mechanical systems and construction methods.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively in a team.
  • Field experience or technical background in construction.
  • Proficiency in reading construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in estimating piping and/or sheet metal systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word.
  • College degree or equivalent field experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in Industrial/Mechanical projects.
