Preventative Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

We are hiring a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Portman. This role involves independently performing a wide variety of general facility maintenance repairs and documenting activities. The ideal candidate should have a fundamental knowledge of state and local codes, be able to collaborate effectively at all levels within the organization, and assist with emergency drills as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair major HVAC, plumbing, life safety, and electrical equipment.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair various systems including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and more.
• Assist with emergency preparedness, building shutdowns, and ensure optimal building operation.
• Foster positive working relationships with teammates and customers to ensure excellent customer service.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required; vocational degree in HVAC or electrical maintenance desired.
• Relevant certifications such as EPA refrigerant transition recovery certification.
• Six or more years of experience in commercial building equipment maintenance.
• BOMA technician certification is preferred.
• Ability to read technical instructions, communicate effectively, and work in a team environment.
• Proficiency with various tools, computer applications, and willingness to work occasional nights, weekends, or holidays.
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to fifty pounds and perform various tasks.
