Job Description

Scott County Hospital, a family-oriented team based in Scott City, KS, is looking for an on-site Certified HIM Coder to join our dynamic facility. As a Certified HIM Coder, you will play a crucial role in assigning codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with coding guidelines. This position requires a dedicated individual with a strong knowledge of coding systems and a commitment to quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assign codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures per coding classification systems.
  • Review provider documentation to identify principal diagnosis, co-morbidities, complications, and procedures.
  • Utilize coding principles and reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnoses.
  • Ensure accurate chargeable items, patient disposition, and billing information.
  • Abide by Ethical Coding Standards and official coding guidelines.
  • Assist with medical records review and chart accuracy.

Requirements

  • Two years of direct coding experience and completion of a certified coding program (RHIT, CPC, CCS, CCA, or COC-H).
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
  • Successful passing of AHIMA's CCA or CCS, or AAPC's COC exam.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
