Job Description

VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Health Care, is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Otero County Detention Center in Alamogordo, NM for a Full-Time, Day Shift position. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will deliver quality care consistent with the scope of practice outlined by the local state nurse practice act and provide monitoring of patients as directed by the health services administrator, director of nursing, registered nurse, or medical director.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
• Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of employment, possesses an active CPR certification.
• Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
• Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies.
• Acute care experience preferred.

Essential Functions

• Utilizes a systematic approach to meet the health needs of each patient.
• Implements nursing care within the LPN’s scope of practice.
• Assists in the development and implementation of teaching plans based on the individual needs of the patient.
• Cares for wounds, administers medications to offenders, cares for multiple patients, and monitors vital signs.
