Job Description

Johnson Regional Medical Center is currently looking to hire a full-time Medical Technologist to work weekend nights. The selected candidate will be responsible for processing laboratory specimens, reporting results, maintaining records, and ensuring quality control practices are followed in all areas of the clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-complexity, moderate complexity, and waived testing in various laboratory areas.
  • Inventory and order supplies for multiple laboratory sections.
  • Act as the lead for assigned laboratory areas, overseeing testing, inventory, and quality assurance practices.
  • Adjust methods and procedures for different patient populations.
  • Notify healthcare providers of critical lab values.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Operate laboratory equipment, maintain safety standards, and stay informed on current technologies.
  • Adhere to regulatory and organizational requirements, including maintaining patient confidentiality and participating in continuous quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology OR Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with 2 years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Certification is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills in English, basic computer knowledge, and proficiency in operating laboratory equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
