Principal Cybersecurity Engineer ( Cloud Security )

Job Description

We are looking for a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer specializing in Cloud Security to join Discover Financial Services. In this role, you will lead the design of the Cybersecurity engineering roadmap, deliver secure systems, and drive Cybersecurity solutions in a high-tech environment. You will provide strategic direction to the team, oversee project implementations, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards. Responsibilities

• Act as the principal advisor on Cybersecurity matters.
• Manage cloud security operations and analyze potential security threats.
• Explore and evaluate new technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
• Define strategic direction and provide leadership to the team.
• Create and maintain Cybersecurity technology roadmap and ensure compliance.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Research, engineer, and integrate new Cybersecurity solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability with scripting, coding, and automation (e.g., Python, shell scripting).
• Knowledge of Cloud architecture and securing cloud communications (AWS, GCP).
• Experience with Restful Services, AWS services, and OpenShift container platform.
• Understanding of access control systems, PKI, multi-factor authentication, and entitlements management.
