Job Description

Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) has a position for an Experienced Construction Inspector in Topeka, KS. The role entails inspecting various types of construction projects to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and contract specifications. The individual will review and interpret construction drawings, attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings, complete and maintain inspection reports, and maintain cooperative relationships with employees, managers, and representatives from other departments and organizations. Moreover, the role may involve citizen complaint investigation, materials testing, and working in outdoor environments with exposure to various elements.

Responsibilities

• Inspect various types of construction projects to ensure compliance with regulations and contract specifications.
• Review and interpret construction drawings.
• Complete and maintain inspection reports and track contractor pay item quantities.
• Develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with employees, managers, and representatives from other departments and organizations.
• Prepare written punch lists and manage electronic files.
• May investigate and respond to citizen complaints, conduct materials testing, and work in outdoor environments with exposure to various elements.

Requirements

• Five or more years of construction inspection experience preferred.
• KDOT Inspection Experience preferred.
• KDOT CITT and American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certifications preferred.
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree or higher.
• Current / valid driver's license.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and PDF software; experience with word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact and communicate complex technical information orally and in writing.
