Job Description

We are looking for a talented Engineer II specializing in Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) to join the EarthScope Consortium team. As an Engineer II, you will manage and implement field projects, provide technical support for geophysical instruments and networks, and collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and scientists to drive innovation in geophysical technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Execute individual geophysical projects and support multiple projects with logistics, installation, maintenance, and data flow activities.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues related to geophysical sensor hardware and data management.
  • Participate in the design and testing of new systems and evaluate instrument design for system adequacy.
  • Document project activities, draft technical reports, and collaborate on technical documentation formats.
  • Engage in collaborative projects and build strong relationships with stakeholders and community members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or geosciences with field experience in geophysical sensors or networks.
  • Familiarity with data quality analysis software and proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Fiber Optics Distributed Sensing applications and related laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, prioritize tasks, and ensure project completion.
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
