Job Description
Discover Financial Services is seeking an Expert Application Engineer (Quality) to join their team. As an integral part of the agile delivery teams, you will play a key role in refining requirements, testing, and ensuring high-quality applications are delivered. The position involves driving strategic technology decisions, contributing to Discover's external image in technology best practices, and shaping learning paths for engineers.
Responsibilities
- Research new technology opportunities to enhance technical capabilities at Discover.
- Drive strategic technology decisions through collaboration with external experts.
- Contribute to Discover's external image as a preferred workplace for technology best practices.
- Be recognized as a thought leader and participate in internal and external tech communities.
- Shape learning paths for engineers by sharing experiences and knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields.
- Internal applicants must have a technical proficiency rating of expert on the Dreyfus engineering scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Cloud Technologies, particularly AWS.
- Ability in building and maintaining APIs, containerized applications/services, and IaaS.
- Proficiency in Java and/or Python programming languages.
- Passion for high-quality standards and test automation.
- Strong analytical and problems-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.
- Great collaboration, communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Knowledge or experience in Golang and full-stack web applications development using React and Node.js are a plus.
- Understanding of risk management principles is beneficial.
