Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Principal Application Engineer to join Discover Financial Services, a leading digital banking and payments company. In this role, you will collaborate with business partners to develop and maintain full-stack solutions tailored to meet business needs. Your innovative mindset will drive best practices within the team and across the enterprise, ensuring high-quality and efficient outcomes. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance, manage risks, and maintain system integrity to support business continuity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain intricate front-end and back-end systems focusing on user experience.
- Plan and integrate new systems into the existing ecosystem based on holistic product knowledge.
- Innovate and advocate for best practices, mentor team members, and stay updated on technology trends.
- Establish and manage DevOps processes, application infrastructure, and leverage cloud services.
- Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance through continuous support and monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field OR 8+ years of experience in Computer Science or related field.
- In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in Computer Science or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of Full Stack Academy, General Assembly, or similar programs.
- Proficiency in containerization, orchestration platforms, cloud providers, Java, Python, CI/CD technologies, and data platforms.
- Experience in API service architectures, software testing, high availability design, and performance monitoring.
- Strong software engineering skills in React JS, JavaScript, and CSS.
