Diesel or Automotive Mechanic - Freeport and Hempstead Schools

Job Description

We are currently looking for a skilled Diesel or Automotive Mechanic to join our team serving the Freeport and Hempstead Schools. • Per union contract, wage is $25 - $34/hr, with additional pay for ASE certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and repairs on school buses.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle systems such as brakes, suspensions, and transmissions.
• Ensure work orders are accurately completed and assist with emergency services.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed.
• 1-5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance experience or technical school education.
• Possess a mechanic's tool set and participate in the ASE certification program.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical requirements.
