Diesel or Automotive Mechanic - Freeport and Hempstead Schools

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Diesel or Automotive Mechanic to join our team at First Student. As the largest school transportation provider in North America, we offer a safe and reliable work environment with great benefits and advancement opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.
• Provide guidance to lower-level technicians.
• Assist with preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair.
• Ensure accurate completion of work orders.
• Assist with mobile emergency services.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• 1-5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance experience preferred.
• Mechanic's tool set is essential.
• Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical requirements.
